Histology Interactive

Producer: Saints Web Design

This program was designed to replace the conventional microscope as the tool for teaching histology. It provides an interactive interface that allows student to perform a practical whilst also getting theoretical feedback. The software contains slide displays coupled with identifiable characteristics of the tissues projected, and a voice commentary serves to supplement the practical with a theoretical foundation. Sketches of tissue and cell structure are used to highlight concepts not easily exhibited in the tissue section. Tissues are often displayed at various magnifications to identify their multifaceted characteristics. System overviews were produced as flow charts illustrating the hierarchy of tissues, organs and systems to allow students to obtain a holistic view of histology. The navigation menu is simple and always visible, and an auto-mode is incorporated into the navigation for revision purposes.
