Kishore PVS. InterNICHE and the Pedagogical Impact of Alternatives in India. Poster session presented at: Alternatives in the Mainstream: Innovations in Life Science Education and Training. 2nd InterNICHE Conference; 2005 May 12-15; Oslo, Norway

Abstract

InterNICHE has facilitated the movement for humane education and ethical science in India. The issue of progressive, humane life science education has been successfully campaigned for by the organisation, involving alternatives campaigners from different walks of life. A diverse network comprising teachers, students and animal welfare organisations has been established. Various events held in India, such as the Alternatives, Animal Welfare and the Curriculum series of training seminars (2004), have helped to bring together campaigners to partner with InterNICHE and liaise on common ground. An awareness has been created, and many opportunities were provided to work in this regard. The concept of alternatives has gained ground and their positive pedagogical impact is immense.
